The Blanchardstown Centre

Blanchardstown Centre had an outdated CCTV solution which had to be upgraded to a full HD (High Definition) megapixel digital system in order to maximise their security and health and safety potential.

The new system had to be highly flexible and capable of growing with the centre. Re-use of some of the existing camera hardware helped keep costs down.

Electro Automation installed the Avigilon system which can be integrated with third-party IP cameras and work seamlessly with existing access control, intercoms and other systems. Camera after camera can be added with almost no increase in bandwidth, servers or hardware. One Avigilon HD megapixel camera can cover the same area as up to 95 traditional analog cameras.

Blanchardstown Centre required very high performance in the new system including the ability to capture live images at state of the art resolution. They also required a user-friendly interface for all staff to view, play back and operate the system.

The scope of works was to remove the existing recording equipment and replace with new IP (Internet Protocol) equipment, comprising of:

  • 3 Avigilon 2U rack mount servers
  • 53 Avigilon analog video encoders
  • 3 Avigilon Control Centre Professional High Performance Remote Monitoring Workstation to process 2-4 monitors each
  • 22 Avigilon HD Dome Cameras
  • 30 PTZ(Pan Tilt Zoom) high-resolution motorised dome cameras
  • 1GB IP network system
The HD cameras are connected to the IP network system and cover at least 90% of the mall area space, recording at 5fps in HD resolution. Some of the older type cameras that were installed previously would not operate with the new system and required a camera upgrade. The previous system consisted of 77 PTZ camera of which 35 were of a high resolution and were transferred to the new system.
