Job Description
As a Technical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the commissioning, installation, and maintenance of various equipment types, including gates, barriers, doors, bollards, car parking systems, security solutions, and other automation systems. This role requires a combination of technical skills and a commitment to excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Execution and Installation:
- Commission and install equipment solutions provided by Electro Automation.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on automated systems, ensuring operational reliability.
- Apply strong fault-finding skills to identify and resolve issues independently.
- Support technical improvements and suggest potential enhancements.
- Material and Cost Management:
- Monitor and control material costs associated with each job.
- Ensure all job information is accurately captured in real-time.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in the workplace.
- Support continuous improvement in environmental health and safety practices.
- Training and Support:
- Create and deliver training materials to internal staff, engineering teams, and clients.
- Assist other teams in understanding and implementing new technology.
- Customer Service and Client Relations:
- Provide courteous and professional service to clients and internal teams.
- Manage client inquiries effectively and communicate regularly with customers.
- Identify potential new business opportunities during client interactions.
- Administrative and Communication Support:
- Liaise with the EA helpdesk to resolve issues and provide technical support.
- Report potential issues to the technical support team leader throughout project phases.
- Document training sessions and maintain clear records for internal and client use.
Requirements
- Experience and Technical Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar technical field service engineer role.
- Strong capability in troubleshooting and working independently.
- Experience with IT networks and infrastructure, particularly in relation to automation systems.
- Familiarity with power supply systems, technical components, and repair techniques.
- Specialised Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of security systems, including intrusion detection, CCTV, and access control.
- Competency in PC/server hardware repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency with various operating systems and software tools, including Word and Excel.
- Qualifications and Certifications:
- Certification in technical systems, electronics, or a related discipline.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive, solution-focused attitude and flexibility in approach.
- Ability to work after hours as part of an on-call rotation when required.
